Ruth Kempson, who is a fellow of the British Academy, a professor in the Philosophy Department of King’s College London, has had a long interdisciplinary career working across the boundaries of syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Since the mid-1990’s she has been the lead figure in the development of Dynamic Syntax. From its outset, Dynamic Syntax has been a cross-disciplinary project, the result of collaborative research by logicians, theoretical and computational linguists. She has published many articles and books, which have included two books on Dynamic Syntax, a textbook on Semantics with Professor Ronnie Can and Dr Eleni Gregoromichelaki,a Handbook on the Philosophy of Linguisticsjointly with Nicholas Asher and Tim Fernando.
