我院伍小玲博士撰写的学术论文“‘Worldes Faierie’: The Narrative Controversies over Constance in Confessio Amantis”在《ANQ: A Quarterly Journal of Short Articles, Notes and Reviews》2024年第4期发表。

论文摘要：

Various narrative details have been detected to illustrate John Gower’s originality in his adaptation of Constance’s tale inConfessio Amantis(II. 587-1598). Scholars generally reach consensus on a saintly image of Constance, agreeing that the poet gives the “Constance legend a distinctively religious and specifically Christian tone”. This judgment generally squares with the larger “Constance saga,” wherein the heroine tends to be quasi-canonized. Gower’s treatment, however, acknowledges progressive tensions affecting Constance’s nature as the narrative of her life unfolds synchronically. This article argues that Gower’s narration contains a covert progression of controversies concerning Constance’s marital relationship with King Allee. TheConfessio Amantisfeatures a romanticized and faithful Allee whose positive image not only serves as a fitting exemplum of the religious admonition on charity for the laity, but also sheds light on Gower’s efforts to shape the British monarch in a literary manner.

教师简介：伍小玲，博士、讲师、硕士生导师。学术兴趣为中世纪英国文学，尤其是约翰·高尔研究等。在《中世纪与文艺复兴研究》、Multicultural Shakespeare、The Year’s Work in English Studies等国内外期刊发表论文若干。主持国家社会科学基金青年项目、浙江省教育厅科研项目等课题。曾于哥本哈根大学、德克萨斯大学奥斯汀分校等高校访学。曾获“浙江财经大学优秀本科毕业论文指导老师”、“浙江财经大学外国语学院青年教师教学比赛三等奖”等荣誉。
